Get an initial 14 months for the price of 12 when you pay by Direct Debit.

Terms & Conditions

Memberships fees are due annually.

The Direct Debit offer of 14 months for the price of 12 is available to new members only, or those that have never paid their membership fees by this payment method.

Family memberships include up to 3 children (5-16 yrs old). Children under 5 are admitted free into the Gardens.

Concessions are available for those aged 60+; those receiving State Benefits such as Income Support; eligible for a disabled persons car parking permit; employees of the University of Liverpool.

Carers of a Friend of Ness Gardens are admitted to the Gardens free of charge.


Frequently Asked Questions

What date does the membership start from?

From the date you return your completed membership form and payment. If you have paid by phone you will be able to collect your membership pack from the Garden Addmission Desk if you wish. If you have paid at the Admission Desk, your receipt will act as a temporary membership card, allowing entry until your membership pack arrives.

How long does the membership welcome pack take to be delivered?

Your membership pack can either be  be posted out to you or collected from the Admissions Desk. This may take up to 14 working days to process depending on the time of year.

Can I come into the Gardens without my membership card?

You'll need to bring your valid membership card each time you wish to visit the Gardens. If you have misplaced your card, please contact us to arrange a replacement card as soon as possible. You can speak to our Admissions staff, or click here to contact us. Please note there is a charge of £3 for a replacement card.

Can I take out a membership as a gift for somebody else?

Yes. You must specify that it is a gift at the time of purchase and choose if you wish the welcome pack to be sent to yourself, or direct to the gift recipient. If you choose for the pack to be sent to the gift recipient, we can include a personal message from you.

What is the benefit of paying by Direct Debit?

Direct Debit payments are secure and when you choose to pay this way you are guaranteed never to miss a day's Friend membership. The Direct Debit will be taken as one annual payment. We'll always write to you before renewal to remind you of the cost and date. Plus, you'll be helping the Friends save money so we can do more to supoort the Gardens.

How do I set up a Direct Debit?

If you would like the membership to be renewed annually, you can set up a Direct Debit (and get an initial 14 months for the price of 12 if you've never been a Friend before) when you purchase the membership. You will be required to complete a Direct Debit Instruction along with your membership application form. How can I renew my membership?

You can renew your membership by phone, post or in person. You don't need to do anything until you receive your renewal notice which will include your renewal date and the cost of your next year's membership. Your renewal letter will arrive approximately 4 weeks prior to your renewal date. If you have set up a Direct Debit then you do not have to do anything as the renewal payment will automatically debit from your bank account.

My card has been lost/stolen

How do I change my address or contact details?

Please click here to contact us. You just need to tell us your name, membership number and your new address and/or contact details.

What are the benefits of joining the Friends of Ness gardens?

  • Free Entry to the Gardens (during advertised opening times) including after hours until dusk and over the Christmas Holidays when the Gardens are closed to the general public.
  • Free Entry to Kew & Wakehurst Place, Oxford Botanic Gardens, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and the Royal  Garden of Edinburgh and its satellite gardens*.
  • Members' Events exclusive to Friends, and discounted rates for courses.

  • The Gentian, the Friends' magazine, sent to you 3 times a year, plus email updates
  • Free Seeds from plants in the Gardens.
  • 10% discount in the Cafe

* These are the only gardens where reciprocal arrangements apply currently.  Each garden has their own entry requirements which may not match like-for-like with Ness Gardens.  Before visiting, please ensure that you visit the venue's own website for details.
