Kids go free!

As part of World Environment Day celebrations at Ness on Sunday 7 June, we are offering families free admission to all children who have travelled by bus to the Gardens. Simply show your bus ticket (488 from Liverpool or 272/273 service) at admissions and kids go free!

World Environment Day is an annual global event run by the United Nations since 1972 to encourage everybody to think and take positive action to protect nature and the planet Earth. It has been celebrated at Ness since the burial of the time capsule in 1994.

This year is 21st anniversary of the burial of Ness time capsule, one of six buried in the UK and abroad (all due to be opened 2044). The anniversary will be marked by a short ceremony with readings from The Promise (the booklet of poems and pictures written to people of the future by children in 1994).

In addition to free entry for children arriving by bus, we are celebrating the day by offering:

Family Environmental Trail (10 am - 5 pm)

Explore the gardens and discover some of the things we do at Ness to help the environment and things you could do at home! Free Trail. Garden admission applies.

Free Family Crafts in the Gardens (12 noon - 2pm)

Drop in activities, make recyclable pots, sow sunflowers and beans as well as learn how to prick out salad seedlings to take home.

Mini-Garden and Poetry Exhibition (10 am - 5 pm)

The Wirral Eco-Schools Officer has worked with some local schools to produce stunning mini-gardens in suitcases. The children have also created poetry about environmental issues. Come and enjoy this thought-provoking exhibition.

All activities are free and included in your normal garden admission.
