Ness Botanic Gardens Photography Exhibition opens in Liverpool
The Ness Botanic Gardens Photography Competition 2014 Exhibition
has opened at the World Museum, Liverpool. The free exhibition is
located on the fourth floor and will run until Sunday 20 September
This year's exhibition comprises of the sixteen inspirational
garden, plant and wildlife images which won or were highly
commended in the 2014 competition.
The overall winning image was taken by University Lecturer John
Maloney -Eucalyptus Yellowwho said of his photograph, 'I was
particularly interested in the abstract bark patterns of the tree
and in the midsummer's evening light that was illuminating the
background trees and plants.'
Every year, the Gardens hold a Photography Competition inviting
all their visitors, adults and children, to take up their cameras
and seek out the most striking images to help capture the beauty of
Local student, Lisa McGrady entered her images after deciding to
photograph the Ness's vegetable and fruit garden, the Potager, to
see how everything had developed and changed. Lisa, who won the
10-17 category said 'I like the vibrant colours portrayed in the
image, which for me, capture the essence of summer'.
The 2015 Competition opened in March with four adult categories
-Plants, Gardens, Wildlife and Abstract and twocategories; one for
children under the age of 10 and one for photographers between the
ages of 10 and 17.
