Beginners Woodcarving

Get started on this fascinating craft with expert guidance from renowned wood carver John White. Students will learn basic carving methods and produce a pattern board of basic cuts and a relief carving of an owl.

The course is taught over two days Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June (10am-4pm)

Course Overview

All students will require to bring the following: 

  • Pencil, rubber & ruler
  • Tracing paper
  • Carbon paper (not essential)
  • Note book
  • Sketch book
  • Any carving tools they may have
  • Any sharpening equipment.

Day 1 - basic techniques, pattern development and tool sharpening.

Day 2 - relief carving techniques and the production of an owl in low relief.


Who is it suitable for?

18+. There are no formal entry requirements; all you need is an interest in learning how to carve wood! This course is suitable for complete beginners or those with a little experience.

What does it cost?

£140 includes materials. There is a £50 non-refundable deposit.
