Learn to Garden Weekend

Looking after a garden can be a challenge especially if you don't quite know what you are doing. Get expert advice from horticulturist Andy Lambie in our new weekend course covering all the basics of gardening.

This is a two-day course on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th June (10am - 4pm)

Course Overview

The course is taught through talks, demonstrations, and a range of activities both in the classroom and out in the gardens (weather permitting).  Please come dressed in suitable clothing for the weather (i.e. waterproof jackets and wear suitable shoes). Also, bring pen and paper.

Saturday -  We will cover the basic principles of plants names, what conditions plants need to grow including how to identify the conditions you have in your own gardens.  You will also learn how to look after your soil, an essential ingredient in any garden, how to choose plants for your gardens and of course how to plant them!

Sunday -  You will learn how to keep your plants healthy, including combating some common pest and diseases. We will use various demonstrations and practical activities to help you understand why various key task are carried out over the year in a garden. You will discover all about pruning, watering, having a happy lawn, through to designing and looking after containers.

 

Who is this suitable for?

18+. There are no formal entry requirements; all you need is an interest in plants. No previous experience needed.

£75 (£65 Friends of Ness Gardens)
