National Gardening Week was launched by the RHS to get the nation growing.

The benefits of gardens and gardening are felt by many millions of people every day. Gardening protects our environment, strengthens communities, helps children learn, and contributes to happy, healthy lives.

Through National Gardening Week, thousands of people across the country are coming together to help keep Britain beautiful by sharing and celebrating everything about gardens and gardening.

Join us to celebrate one of the nations favourites past times, gardens and gardening throughout National Gardening Week 2015.

Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 April

Free Family Crafts & Gardening Fun -12 noon - 3 pm. Come along and enjoy some family time together creating decorative eggs, making easter masks and relax with your children in the colouring corner. Encourage your children to learn a little about gardening - making their own plant pots and sowing vegetable and flower seeds to grow and enjoy at home. Meet some worms and find out more about compost! Take part in our great Sunflower and Ness Young Photographer of the Year competitions.

Friday 17 April

Free entry to the Gardens for everybody (10 am-5 pm) as Ness Botanic Garden takes part in the first ever National Gardens Open Day! Come along and enjoy the magnolias, Rhododendrons and Camillias.

Free Family Gardening Fun 12 noon -3 pm.   Encourage your children to learn a little about gardening - making your own plant pots and sowing vegetable and flower seeds to grow and enjoy at home. Discover the pollination 'citizen science' project Ness Botanic Gardens is participating in. Meet some worms and find out more about compost! Take part in our great Sunflower and Ness Young Photographer of the Year competitions.

Gardeners Question Time 1 pm -4 pm, free  in the Visitors Centre. Come along and get your gardening problems solved and get advice from experts from Ness Botanic Gardens and the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.
