Plant Identification for Beginners

Learn the skills of plant identification and then put them into practice. This introductory course acts as a comprehensive guide covering all the basics of identifying plants.

The course starts on Thursday 7 June (09.30-12noon) 6 Weekly Sessions

Course Overview

The course is taught through talks; demonstrations and a range of activities both in the classroom and out in the gardens (weather permitting).  Please come dressed in suitable clothing for the weather (i.e. waterproof jackets and wear suitable shoes). Also bring pen and paper.

Week 1 - Understanding plants names

Week 2 - Parts of a plant and basic terminology

Week 3 - Plant Families & Plant Keys

Week 4 - Weeds & Wildflowers

Week 5 - Herbaceous plants

Week 6 - Trees & Shrubs

 

Who is it suitable for?

Suitable for: 18+. There are no formal entry requirements; all you need is an interest in plants. No previous experience needed.

£65 (£60 Friends of Ness Gardens)
