RHS Level 2: Understanding plant propagation

RHS-QUALIFICATIONS-MARK-RGBv1Are you a keen gardener, passionate about plants and wanting to learn more? Or do you want to start a career in horticulture?

This course will allow you to understand how to propagrate a range of garden plants using a variety of straight forward techniques.  

This courses starts on Thursday 2nd March 1-3.30pm 6 weekly sessions.

Course Overview

The course is taught through talks; demonstrations and a range of activities both in the classroom and out in the gardens (weather permitting).  Please come dressed in suitable clothing for the weather (i.e. waterproof jackets and wear suitable shoes). Also bring pen and paper.

Week 1 - Growing plants from seed, how to harvest, store and sow a range of seeds.

Week 2 - Stem Cuttings; softwood, semi-ripe and hardwood.

Week 3 - Leaf & root cuttings

Week 4 - Division & layering

Week 5 - Artifical methods of propagating bulbs

Week 6 - Budding & Grafting

This course is a module of the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture.  The RHS Level 2 is taught at Ness on a rolling programme of eight modules, each lasting 6 weeks. You can begin at the start of any module and study as many modules as you like.

Who is it suitable for?

18+. There are no formal entry requirements; although the course is aimed at gardeners with some experience or those who have completed some level 1 courses.

What does it cost?

£60 Friends (£65 non members) per module
