Woodcarving: Birds

Wood CravingDevelop your wood carving skills with expert guidance from renowned wood carver John White. Students will learn the basics of bird carving and produce a three-dimensional carving of a kingfisher.

Suitable for: 18+

There are no formal entry requirements; however this course is for those who have some previous carving experience and want to develop their skills.

The course is taught over two days Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August (10am-4pm)

Course Overview

All students will require some basic drawing equipment and should bring any carving tools and sharpening equipment they have (a limited selection of tools will be available to borrow during the course).

  • Pencil, rubber & ruler
  • Tri square
  • Note book
  • Sketch pad
  • Tracing paper
  • Carbon paper
  • Tools and sharpening equipment
  • Small tenon saw

There will be a small charge for materials of no more than £10.00 per person, 

Day 1 - design, drawing, modeling and roughing out.

Day 2 - shaping, detailing, building, tool selection and maintenance.

 

What does it cost?

£130 per person plus a small materials charge of no more than £10. There is a £50 non-refundable deposit.
