Mushroom course with Jesper Launder
22 September 2013 09:30 - 22 September 2013 16:30
Ness Gardens on the Wirral is renowned for its dazzling displays
of horticultural plants specimens and is a truly
beautiful location. However, for this event, the agenda is fungi,
particularly of the edible kind. The grounds of Ness are rich with
mature trees, grassland and managed floral beds - a surprisingly
rich habitat for finding fungi - so
expect to find a wide array of poisonous, edible, and even
incredible medicinal mushrooms. Last year's foray found in excess
of thirty excellent edible species! The course will be introduced
with some helpful theory and key pointers for aiding correct
identification of mushrooms, before we head out for some serious
foraging. There will be more of the same after lunch before we
finally head back to class to assess our finds and enjoy the
delights of freshly harvested wild mushrooms cooked in a variety of
ways.
£45 per person, includes lunch.
